Michele Faulkner, PharmD, FASHP, professor in pharmacy practice in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions and neurology in School of Medicine, will present a live virtual session at the Annual Meeting of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) on “The Cannabis Connection: Exploring New Treatments for Neurological Disorders.”
Faulkner will discuss the available data regarding the use of Cannabis and its derivatives in the use of various neurologic disorders with an emphasis on Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and headache. A large part of the discussion will focus on how clinicians should approach this subject with their clients/patients so they are as informed and safe as possible knowing that many of them are already using Cannabis in an attempt to control symptoms, either legally or illegally. She will co-present with Kari Fransen, a professor at the University of Southern California, whom will contribute on Cannabis pharmacology and the current legal status.
