Creighton professor Littleton Alston, MFA, was recently recognized on the floor of the U.S. Congress by Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska for his lifetime contributions as a renowned artist and professor. Bacon read a statement to Congress on Feb. 11, in recognition of Black History Month, honoring Alston. Alston is the first African American commissioned to create a sculpture for National Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., and is currently working on 7-foot bronze statue of Nebraska writer Willa Cather for that project.
