By way of the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health Grant (REACH), the Health Sciences Multicultural and Community Affairs Department (HS-MACA) hosted its 3rd Annual Faith Based Fitness Challenge. The Faith Based Fitness Challenge has played a role in mentoring and motivating congregations in the community to remain active. Pastors and health ambassadors from twelve REACH partnering faith-based organizations made the commitment to increase awareness and participation in physical activity to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease along with its risk factors - obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. by way of policy changes, implementation of systems and environmental improvements.
