Amy Haddad, PhD, RN, professor in the Center for Health Policy and Ethics and the Graduate School Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, completed her term as president of the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) in Kansas City, Missouri, at the annual meeting. She will now assume the duties of the immediate past-president and serve on the ASBH board in that capacity until 2019. The more than 1,800 members of ASBH are health care professionals, teachers, consultants, and others who have an interest in the field of bioethics and humanities. Dr. Haddad presented several awards at the annual meeting, including the 2017 Cornerstone Award to the American Nurses Association Center for Ethics and Human Rights. The Cornerstone Award is ASBH’s highest honor for institutions for outstanding contributions that enrich and shape the field of bioethics or the medical humanities.
