In their book “Invest with the Fed: Maximizing portfolio performance by following Federal Reserve policy,” Johnson and his co-authors, Gerald Jensen of Creighton University and Luis Garcia-Feijoo of Florida Atlantic University, found that defensive stocks performed much better than cyclical stocks when the Fed raised rates, as is likely over the next year or so.
