Syed Mohiuddin, M.D., will receive Creighton University’s annual Martin Luther King Drum Major Award at a Jan. 18 luncheon on campus. The award is presented to an individual who serves as an advocate for social justice and brings the community together by promoting collaboration among diverse groups.
Through Omaha’s Tri-Faith Initiative, Mohiuddin has played a vital role in plans to construct a synagogue, a mosque and a church alongside one another, along with a fourth interfaith structure. The project has gained national and international attention.
Mohiuddin also has worked to introduce a number of programs and services to reduce cardiovascular disease among Omaha’s African American population. Reservations are required to attend the luncheon. Read more
