Petition to Save Student Aid

As you know, the federal government has been attempting to lower the national debt in both the short and long terms, and federal student aid for higher education has been a prime target. Already $30 billion in aid has been lost.

The University has worked hard to offset some of the cuts and keep a Creighton education as affordable as possible, but we are now facing a critical time for our students. The Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction or “Super Committee” must reach an agreement by Nov. 23 on cutting the federal deficit by $1.2 trillion.

The Student Aid Alliance, a coalition of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and 61 other higher education associations, is sending a petition to Capitol Hill to save Pell Grants and other student aid. If you are inclined to sign the petition, you may do so here. For more information on the Student Aid Alliance, visit
