Food Sustainability: Green Bag Lunch and Learn Oct. 6

The Creighton University Sustainability Council’s “Green Bag” Lunch and Learn Series presents “Food Sustainability: Healthier for Ourselves, Our Community and Our Planet” on Thursday, Oct. 6, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Creighton Center for Service and Justice (Harper Center 2067). Alexander Adkins, general manager of The Grey Plume restaurant at Midtown Crossing, Jody Fritz of Tomato Tomato, and Ed Lube, general manager of Creighton University Dining Services and Sodexo, will be the presenters. Learn how three local food businesses are promoting sustainable food and environmental practices. Sustainable food seeks better health for consumers, a viable livelihood for farmers, sustainable land management, a reduction in energy consumption and support of rural economies. Come hear how YOU are affected, what you can do and why it matters in your life! Join the dialogue. Bring a simple lunch if you would like. Drinks and dessert (fresh fruit and seven-layer bars!) provided. Sponsored by Facilities Management, the Creighton Center for Service and Justice, and the Creighton Sustainability Council.

Save the Date: Thursday, Nov. 17, 12:30-1:30 p.m., CCSJ — “Green Transportation: Be an Agent of Change” — A conversation with Matt Martin, executive director of the Community Bike Project; Daniel Lawse, Creighton graduate and coordinator of sustainable practices at Metro Community College.
