Researcher to Test if Gene Halts Buildup

Omaha World-Herald, Sept 12, 2011 — A Creighton University researcher, Devendra Agrawal hopes to show that a specific gene can halt the re-narrowing of a heart artery after a stent or balloon has been placed in that artery. Agrawal, who heads Creighton’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science, has received a four-year, $2.6 million federal grant to test on pigs the notion that the gene will stop the re-narrowing.
