From Patrick Borchers, Vice President for Academic Affairs: We are pleased to announce the creation of a permanent Creighton Office of Online Learning (COOL) and appointment of Tracy Chapman as assistant dean to direct the daily functions of the office. She will report to Gail Jensen, dean of the Graduate School and University College. COOL has been formed to support, advance and assure quality in meeting best practice standards for the University’s growing number of online programs and courses. The COOL structure includes an executive board and a 21 person advisory committee that represents stakeholders across the campus. Institutional responsiveness to both federal guidelines and institutional accrediting policies (Higher Learning Commission) regarding distance education is imperative. Chapman brings 11 years of experience with design, implementation and administrative oversight of online degree programs across three disciplines in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. She holds a BSBA (Finance), M.Ed. in Instructional Design, and is in the final stages of completing her Ph.D. in distance education administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She began her new role July 1.
