Last Chance to Register for March 22 Refugee Simulation

Registration is almost full for this year’s refugee simulation.

The Schlegel Center for Service and Justice (SCSJ) is co-hosting their second refugee simulation with Lutheran Family Service of Nebraska, Inc. (LFS) “Omaha Neighbors Share the Journey: A Refugee Simulation Through Stories” Friday, March 22  to provide individuals with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what obstacles refugees are faced with as they flee war, poverty, and persecution. Five Omaha refugee neighbors from LFS will share their stories on different aspects of their journey of migrating to the United States. Note that this is an interactive simulation that requires active movement.

There will be seven shifts available (each 2 hours long) that will occur throughout the day to experience the simulation. Please only register for one shift to participate in. All shifts are the same simulation; just at different times. The event will take place in the Harper Center. There are specific ticket types to register for, which can be found in the description of the Eventbrite registration links below. Please read through the description carefully prior to registering.

If you have any interest to either participate or volunteer for the event, there are two separate links to register which can be found below. Registering to be a volunteer does not include registration to be a participant for the refugee simulation, so please register for both if you are interested in participating as well as volunteering. Volunteers are greatly needed for the many shifts we have available. Please consider giving your time to help make this simulation a reality.
