Free Tree Giveaway for Faculty and Staff

Due to the enormous amount of interest for trees in the fall, the Putting Down Roots committee is organizing another order of trees for this Spring! As a reminder our committee was established in 2017 with support from both the Global Engagement Office and the Office of Sustainability Programs. We recognize that Creighton’s ongoing engagement with the global community requires us to consider the environmental consequences that this engagement produces. Knowing this, the mission of this committee is to continue to strengthen Creighton’s global community by planting trees, to offset the carbon emissions we produce. As part of the Environmental Global Citizenship funding from the Creighton Global Initiative, we are able to act on this mission and would like to offer you, the faculty and staff of Creighton University the opportunity to get a free tree.

If you choose to take a tree we do ask for your contact information to have record of where each tree will be planted. This is so that in the future we will be able to come and collect data, to measure the amount of carbon uptake per tree, ultimately as a measure of success for this project.

If you are interested, we ask that you complete the survey by March 29. If you filled out the Spring interest survey last Fall, we ask that you resubmit a response because we have different varieties available. View descriptions and pictures of the types of trees we are offering. The trees will be ready for pick up on campus on Thursday, April 25 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Creighton Greenhouse. If you have any questions or concerns, please email EmmaBaker@creighton.edu.
