Open to the Spirit Retreat: Aug. 27-29
-
Come away to Creighton University Retreat Center in Griswold, Iowa, and be “opened to the Spirit.” As we stand on the threshold of fall, take this opportunity to explore new possibilities. Using scripture, music and other creative activities, we will explore what it means to be open, what we are called to be open to and what may be keeping us from being open. The weekend will offer opportunities for fellowship, engaging topics, private prayer, spiritual direction, an opportunity for reconciliation and Mass as well as a lot of great food – all of this in the beauty of God’s creation. The retreat director is Amy Hoover. Hoover is an experienced spiritual and retreat director. She has served in parish ministry as director of adult faith formation. This summer, Hoover is completing her master’s degree in Christian spirituality from Creighton. The weekend begins Friday, Aug. 27, at 7:30 p.m. and concludes before lunch on Sunday, Aug. 29. Open to men and women. The retreat package rate is $130 per person, including room and all meals. Contact Terri Lou Duggan at 712.778.2466 or curc@netins.net to register or with questions, or visit www.creighton.edu/ministry/retreatcenter/.

Spiritual Direction and Ignatian Retreats
-
Cardoner will fund a four to eight day spiritual retreat or spiritual direction through June 30, 2011. Your retreat will include a spiritual director (find sites here). E-mail Janine ter Kuile for more information on how to be reimbursed. Only one retreat reimbursed by Cardoner is considered within a five-year period.
Ignatian spirituality, the vision of the relationship between God and the human person grounded in the mystical experiences of St. Ignatius, has its primary expression in his book of The Spiritual Exercises. More than 20 retreat houses and spirituality centers in the United States provide a variety of services based on The Spiritual Exercises for clergy, men and women religious and lay people. The Creighton Retreat Center in Griswold, Iowa, can set up a retreat for you. Contact Fr. David Smith for more information.
What is Spiritual Direction? Spiritual direction is the process of accompanying people on a spiritual journey. Spiritual direction exists in a context that emphasizes growing closer to God (or the holy or a higher power). For more information on spiritual direction and how to find a person to direct you, visit www.sdiworld.org/. Cardoner will pay for four visits for spiritual direction (for a total of $100 at $25 per hour). For further assistance in choosing a director, contact Janine ter Kuile.
