Welie Attends Vatican City Public Health in Global Perspective Conference

Jos V. Welie, MA, MMedS, JD, PhD, FACD, special professor of bioethics in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies Graduate School, recently participated in a conference on “Public Health in Global Perspective,” hosted by the Pontifical Academy for Life, Sept. 27-29, 2021 in Vatican City.

The Pontifical Academy, of which Welie is a member, is the Catholic church’s main advisory body on bioethical issues.

During the papal audience, Pope Francis reminded all present that as serious as the impact of the pandemic is in the developed world, it is compounded in the developing world by major social and health system challenges, including a lack of access to water for proper hand-washing.
