Victoria F. Roche, PhD, professor of Pharmacy Sciences in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions was the lead editor on the 8th Edition of Foye’s Principles of Medicinal Chemistry, which officially published in September, 2019. “Foye” is considered the ‘gold standard’ comprehensive text in the medicinal chemistry discipline, and is used internationally by pharmacy faculty, professional students and graduate students. Its 37 chapters cover the gamut of drugs in contemporary clinical use, explaining the chemical basis for drug action by emphasizing chemical mechanisms of action, structure-activity relationships, physicochemical-pharmacokinetic properties and metabolic profiles. In addition to editing the text, Roche authored the chapters on centrally-acting analgesics and cancer chemotherapy, and contributed to the chapters dealing with cognitive disorders and gastrointestinal/genitourinary disorders.
