McHendry, Communication Studies Students Author Key Concepts in Surveillance Studies

KeyConceptsCover-642x1024Guy McHendry, PhD, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies, just released Key Concepts in Surveillance Studies. This is an open access glossary of important concepts in the study of surveillance. What makes this project unique is each of the 26 entries were written by undergraduates for undergraduates.

In McHendry’s COM 174 From Big Brother to Big Data: Surveillance Culture class students researched and wrote the entries as part of their coursework. Students then had the option to have their entry included in the book, which McHendry edited. In future semesters, he plans to have students contribute new entries with the hope of building a valuable resource for students new to the study of surveillance.
