Water Main Replacement on Cass Street Starts May 21

MUD will be replacing the water main along Cass Street between 20th and 24th streets beginning the week of May 20. The work is expected to take about five weeks to complete. At selected times during the work, water to buildings will be turned off so connections can be made. Facilities will keep you informed about the outages as they know of them. MUD is very flexible (should get at least 48 hours notice of the outages and the outages will be scheduled for times when the buildings are off line). Home Run Derby Special Creighton Rate

Creighton University faculty, staff and students are eligible for special ticket pricing for the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby and Omaha World-Herald Fireworks show on July 3. The Home Run Derby begins at 7:30 p.m. at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. The Home Run Derby features the nation’s college power hitters. The 28th annual World-Herald fireworks display will follow the derby. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-12.

Creighton University participated in the oneShirt National Collegiate Clothing Challenge this spring and finished in the Top 5 in two categories:

Florida State University: 6,019 pounds
West Virginia University: 4,846 pounds
Oklahoma Panhandle State University: 3,113 pounds
Creighton University: 2,682 pounds
Bryant University (Rhode Island): 1,789 pounds

Interesting Fun Energy Facts

The Department of Energy estimates that about 20 percent of the energy you use at home powers electrical appliances like TV’s, DVD’s, stereos, coffeemakers, toasters and microwaves — even when they are turned off. Energy saved from one, recycled aluminum can, will operate a TV for three hours, and is equivalent to a half a can of gasoline.
